Our client base is not limited to the North Otago district, in fact it is New Zealand wide including the Chatham Islands. At McKenzie Co Ltd we aim to provide advice when your business needs it, before you make important decisions and not only when you ask. McKenzie Co supports approximately 400 commercial and sporting clients, many of whom have been with the firm since 1983. An original client of Mr Robertson was Mr Fred Ongley, an Oamaru Solicitor whose firm later became know as Ongley and Grater and now is known as Dean Associates. 1938 Mr J B Spear left to become Manager of the Farm Accounting Association.
1944 The firm continued in this way until 1st March, when Mr Meikle, Mr Thomas and Mr S R Cuthbertson went into partnership together. 1954 In July Mr Corlett resigned from the Partnership, having purchased a farm at Five Forks and Mr K T Cusack was invited to join the firm. 1963 The firm of Thomas, Leggett and Cusack, trading as Meikle Co, continued until 1963 when Mr Leggett resigned in order to go into the transport business forming Waitaki Transport Holdings Ltd in Oamaru. 1981 Mr Bruce Perkins entered into partnership with Mr Cusack continuing to trade as C G Meikle Co. 1985 The firm moved from 87 Thames St which it had occupied from pre war years to 100 Thames St formerly the old Waitaki District Council offices and practised under the name Perkins Co. 1986 Arch Thomas, son of Mr W V Thomas, purchased Mr Cusack’s share and entered into partnership with Mr Perkins trading as Perkins Thomas Co. 1991 The firm moved next door to the former Oamaru Borough Council Chambers Opera House building . 2001 Due to the failing health of Bruce Perkins, the partnership of Perkins Thomas Co was sold to Mr Fraser McKenzie who continued the firm under the name McKenzie Chartered Accountants Ltd. 2004 Mr W V Wilf Thomas resigned his part time employment ending 68 years of continued associated with the firm.

Clients are paired with the accountant who has the right skills and knowledge to get the best out of their business. Abby is mainly working from home these days as she combines work with motherhood. Angela joined the Commercial Team in early she has already established herself as chief of all things Christmas. You wouldn’t know from looking at her, but Bridget has been with McKenzie Co since 1997.
Claire spent her time away from Oamaru training to be an Accounting Technician AT and working at Chartered Accountancy firms across New Zealand. When the other staff moan about the weather he promptly informs them that this is not cold compared with living in Poland for 12 years. Paula enjoys travel, cooking, baking, music, building and house renovating, spending time with her husband and family and especially her grandchildren better not exclude the family dog Millie. Outside of work Andrea enjoys time spent with family, Church and watching movies.
Michelle is another one of our staff members that has returned back to her home town. She has previous experience in managing an office and has completed her Bachelor of Accountancy with Massey University. Jennie is our gatekeeper she has a talent for making everyone smile when they come in the door. Outside work, Jennie enjoys having a beer in the sun or a laugh with her family, including her dog Pypa.
Since joining the team in 2013 Fleur has looked after office istration, supports Jennie at reception, the accounting team and our clients. Fleur loves heading off in her campervan and spending time with her children and adorable grandchildren

An original client of Mr Robertson was Mr Fred Ongley, an Oamaru Solicitor whose firm later became know as Ongley and Grater and now is known as Dean Associates. 1935 Mr Robertson continued in practice until mid 1935 when he died very suddenly. He was a bachelor and among the bequests in his Estate, which included the Oamaru Borough Council and the Waitaki Hospital Board, was the fact that he left his complete business to his Chief Clerk, Mr C G Meikle.
1938 Mr J B Spear left to become Manager of the Farm Accounting Association. He later resigned from that position to form a practice known as Spear Co. , which became Scott Co, and is now part of WHK Otago. 1944 The firm continued in this way until 1st March, when Mr Meikle, Mr Thomas and Mr S R Cuthbertson went into partnership together. 1946 In August Mr Cuthbertson resigned from the partnership to take on a commercial fishing venture with his brother.
1950 In March Messrs Corlett and Thomas invited their Senior Clerk, Mr W M Leggett, to become a partner. 1954 In July Mr Corlett resigned from the Partnership, having purchased a farm at Five Forks and Mr K T Cusack was invited to join the firm. 1963 The firm of Thomas, Leggett and Cusack, trading as Meikle Co, continued until 1963 when Mr
